Actress Toyin Abraham has addressed the allegation of debt levelled against her by a fashion designer known as Stitches By Andra on Instagram.

In its Friday report, Daily Post said the designer alleged that Toyin, alongside Annie Idibia and Gabriel Anthony, owes her a sum amounting to millions.

She stated that the debt has remained unpaid for over a year and two months.

The designer in a now-deleted post wrote, “@toyin_abraham @annieidibia1 @gabrielanthonys, my patience is running out. 1 year and 2 months. How can you owe someone’s millions and feel so reluctant to pay?”

Responding to the allegation on her Instagram page on Friday, the mother-of-one said the situation was misconstrued.

Providing clarification, she revealed that the incident in question stemmed from the production of her movie ‘Malaika’ during which she and her team required dresses for a runway scene in the film.

“Hello everyone, I want to address the recent allegations about an unpaid debt to a fashion designer. The situation has been completely misunderstood. During the production of Malaika, there was a runway scene, and we needed dresses,” she shared.

Toyin mentioned that she and her team reached out to several designers, including Tiannah, a prominent Nigerian stylist, to provide outfits for the shoot.

Moreover, Toyin mentioned that Anthony, a member of her production team, introduced the designer to her—who expressed interest in contributing dresses for the project.

“Additionally, Gabriel, who was part of the team, mentioned that a friend of his also wanted to contribute some dresses, and she did. I even bought a hairpiece from her, for which I paid in full,” Toyin said.

In response to the designer’s allegations of non-payment, Toyin clarified that the dresses were not purchased but were merely borrowed for the duration of the shoot.

She noted that after the filming, the dresses were returned to Anthony, who provided them to the production.

“As for the dresses she provided, they were borrowed for the shoot, and once we finished using them, I handed them back to Gabriel, who brought them to us,” she added.

Toyin disclosed that upon discovering the online allegations, she reached out to Anthony for clarification.

She stated that Anthony explained the dresses had been returned and were then borrowed by someone else.

“Upon seeing the allegations online, I called Gabriel immediately for clarification. Gabriel confirmed that he informed the designer that the dresses had already been returned to him and subsequently borrowed by someone else. Therefore, it is no longer my responsibility. I hope this clears the confusion,” she wrote.

Toyin described the allegation as baseless.
