Aminat Olayiwola, wife of actor Ibrahim Yekini (Itele), shares insights into their nearly 10-year marriage, highlighting love, trust, and resilience.

Speaking with Bimpe Akintunde on her talk show Iriri Mi, Aminat opened up about their love story, its challenges, and the values that keep their relationship strong.

Aminat recalled meeting Itele during his early years as a struggling actor. Despite his limited resources, she was drawn to his character and deep sense of morality.

“When I met Itele, things weren’t rosy for him,” she said. “Even with that, I stood by his side because I love him. I always said I wouldn’t marry a celebrity, but his attitude and fear of God changed my mind.”

Strong values keep him grounded

According to Aminat, her husband’s strong fear of God is a defining trait. She explained that this quality keeps him away from deceitful behavior, especially when it comes to relationships.

“Ibrahim is the kind of person who fears God. He doesn’t get involved in scamming or manipulating women. Anytime he considers doing something wrong, he remembers God’s wrath and stops,” she shared.

Aminat credited this mindset as a foundation of their trust and understanding. She emphasized that his moral compass has been crucial in their journey together.

Adapting to a busy lifestyle

Aminat admitted that adjusting to Itele’s demanding career wasn’t easy. In the early years of their relationship, his frequent travels for movie shoots caused tension. “When we first started dating, it was difficult for me. He was always traveling, and we would fight about it,” she revealed.

Over time, however, she learned to accept the demands of his profession. “Now, I’ve gotten used to it. Sometimes, I even wish he would travel more!” she added with a laugh.

Her patience and understanding of his career have helped maintain harmony in their marriage, even during hectic times.

Handling fame and female fans

Being married to a public figure comes with its unique challenges, especially with the attention Itele receives from female fans. Aminat, however, chooses to handle it with grace. “To give him peace of mind, I overlook his relationships with some of his female fans,” she said.

Her approach reflects her commitment to creating a stable and supportive environment for her husband.

Facing criticism and staying strong

Aminat also opened up about the criticism she faced during their early days as a couple. She recalled being mocked by her friends for dating Itele, who at the time drove an old car. “Back in university, I was a ‘hit’ girl. My friends would laugh at me because of the car he used to pick me up in. But I didn’t let it bother me,” she said. Her unwavering belief in their future together kept her grounded through those tough moments.

Decade of love and growth

Reflecting on their journey, Aminat expressed gratitude for the nearly 10 years they’ve spent together. She attributed their enduring bond to love, patience, and faith. “It’s been almost 10 years now, and it’s all by the grace of God,” she said.

Aminat’s story is a testament to the power of resilience and shared values in a marriage. Her decision to stand by Itele, despite early struggles and public scrutiny, highlights her strength and belief in their relationship.

Through her words, Aminat offers a glimpse into the realities of being married to a celebrity while emphasizing the importance of trust, understanding, and faith.

Her journey with Itele serves as an inspiring example of commitment and perseverance in the face of challenges.
