Get ready, movie lovers. August is upon us!
This August is shaping up to be an absolute banger for anyone who loves the big (or small) screen. It feels like the streaming gods and goddesses have heard our collective prayers, showering us with new releases that are just begging to be binged. From historical epics starring our favorite Aquaman to the return of a certain delightfully dreary teen, there’s a little something for every kind of moviegoer. So grab your popcorn because The New Daily Prime got a whole new lineup to obsess over.
Chief of War (Apple TV+, August 1)
Apple TV+ and Jason Momoa are at it again! Honestly, the man could probably play a tree and make it epic. In Chief of War, it looks like he’s taking everything we loved about his character on Frontier and dialing it up to eleven, trading in his axe for a whole new battlefield. We’re getting a historical drama that promises to be just as brutal and captivating as it is beautiful. A perfect way to kick off the month, if you ask me.
Wednesday, Season 2 (Netflix, August 6)
It’s been a long three years, but the queen of all things macabre is finally making her return! We’ve been patiently waiting for another glimpse into the twisted world of the Addams family. If the new trailer is any indication, this season is going to be just as dark, witty, and delightfully spooky as the first. Get ready to snap your fingers and embrace the gloom, because Wednesday is back and better than ever.
Bad Guys 2 (August 1)
Wait, they’re making another one? I thought we already saw them pull off every heist in the book! Turns out those were just appetizers, because the crew is back for the main course. I’m already on the edge of my seat, ready to see what kind of big-time trouble the Bad Guys get into this time. If the first movie was any indication, we’re in for a wild, animated ride filled with laughs and larceny.
Peacemaker (August 21)
Finally! It feels like ages since we’ve seen John Cena as anything other than a walking, talking punchline with questionable action moves. If you, like me, remember and adore Cena from his wrestling days, you’re going to love this. Peacemaker is the perfect reminder of his glorious prime. It’s time to put away the silly comedy and get back to the serious, jaw-dropping action that we know he’s capable of.
Naked Guy (August 1)
I’m not going to lie, the title alone is enough to get my attention. Naked Guy is a comical action movie with a surprisingly high rating of 7.1/10. It’s a strange feeling to see a serious, dramatic actor like Liam Neeson in such a wacky, sultry comedy. But hey, I’m absolutely here for it. Maybe he’s finally decided to embrace his silly side. And honestly? I can’t wait to see what he’s got in store for us.
