Weeks after the deaths of two religious singers, Aduke Gold and Dele Gold, popular Islamic singer Rukayat Gawat has passed away.
The Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Jubril Gawat, confirmed Rukayat’s death on Tuesday on his X account. He tweeted:
“Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.”
Moreover, an Islamic religious leader based in Ilorin, Alfa Aribidesi At-Tawdeeh Islamic Da’awah, also confirmed the news on his Facebook page.
“Our sympathy goes to the family of Ruqayat Gawat for this great loss! May Allah forgive her shortcomings. Rukayat Gawat-Oyefeso is gone.”
As of press time, The New Daily Prime could not confirm the singer’s cause of death.
The late Rukayat Gawat was the wife of Alhaji Shakiri Oyefeso. She was the daughter of popular broadcaster and Islamic presenter Alhaji Rasaq Aremu Gawat,
Rukayat Gawat has been laid to rest according to Islamic rites.
