New details have emerged regarding the arrest of popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, at the Seme Border on Monday. According to witnesses who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Bobrisky arrived at the border’s departure area around 1:30 AM in a black SUV Mercedes Benz.

Sources indicate that Bobrisky was initially stopped by Port Health officials, but the vehicle continued until it reached the Immigration checkpoint. At that point, Bobrisky reportedly handed his passport to the driver for processing.

An immigration surveillance officer, identified as Yusuf, recognized Bobrisky while reviewing the passport. He then called over the senior officer on duty and discreetly summoned the Controller of Immigration, Mr. Muhammad Adamu, to the scene. The surveillance officer later invited Bobrisky to the immigration unit for passport stamping.

Upon arrival at the unit, Bobrisky was taken to the controller’s office for questioning. A source disclosed that Bobrisky’s lawyer arrived shortly after to inquire about the reasons behind the arrest.

Bobrisky remained in the controller’s office until around 4:00 PM, at which point he was transferred to the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) for further investigation.

The NIS confirmed the arrest, with Public Relations Officer Kenneth Udo stating that Bobrisky was detained as a “person of interest” due to recent public concerns. In a statement issued from Abuja, Udo emphasized the agency’s commitment to border security, revealing that Bobrisky was intercepted while attempting to leave the country.

Udo noted that Bobrisky is currently undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action. The situation continues to develop, and further updates are anticipated.
