Nigerian renowned music executive Don Jazzy has chosen Tega Oghenejobo as President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of his prestigious record company Mavin.
Don Jazzy took to Instagram to compliment Tega’s amazing traits, expressing his pride in his unique and incredible personality, as well as his resilience.
He emphasised Tega’s curiosity about the music business, team-building abilities, executive growth, and commitment to sustainable artist careers.
He wrote on Instagram: “I’m proud to announce Tega’s expanded role as President and COO of Mavin. I am often praised for being able to spot and raise superstars, but I can proudly say the most genius thing I have done in my life was being able to spot the passion and resilience in Tega. From the early days, I’ve watched him be curious about the business, build teams, develop executives, and ensure our talents have sustainable careers from the start. His commitment to growing Mavin and shaping the future of African music has been relentless, and I’m confident that with him in this role, we’ll continue to break new ground and achieve even bigger milestones for our artists and company. Congratulations @tegamavin”.
Since founding Mavin after leaving Mo’Hits Records, Don Jazzy has established himself as a respected music industry figure, earning numerous awards as a producer and label boss.
Don Jazzy made headlines a few months ago after a foreign investor bought his record company, Mavins.
Jazzy co-founded the now-defunct record company Mo’ Hits Records in 2004 with his former business partner, Oladapo Oyebanj, also known as D’banj.
Following its collapse, he established Mavin Records on May 8, 2012.
Tiwa Savage, Reekado Banks, Korede Bello, Dr SID, D’Prince, DNA Twins, and many more are among the acts produced by Mavin.
Artists on the label include Ayra Starr, Johnny Drille, Crayon, Boy Spice, Bayanni, Rema, Lifesize Teddy, and Ladipoe.
Don Jazzy celebrated his 37th birthday in 2019 by unveiling a freshly built multimillion-naira house known as “Mavin Creative Studios” as Mavin Corporate Headquarters.
The label has won multiple awards, including the MTV Africa Music Award for Best Record Label.
Global stars including Beyoncé, Selena Gomez, Kelly Rowland, and Chris Brown have also worked with Mavin Records’ musicians.
The New Daily Prime recalls that the Mavin Records boss was embroiled in an online scandal. The anger stems from his comment on a post by popular skitmaker Oluwadolarz, who has just ventured into music.
Oluwadolarz revealed in a social media post that he received a troubling message from an anonymous individual.
According to him, the man promised to make his music a smash and propel it to the top of the charts, but only if Oluwadolarz agreed to engage in sexual activity with him. “Bend down, and I’ll make your song number one,” the man allegedly promised.
The news generated immediate fury among the comedy star’s fans and followers, with many demanding him to speak out and expose the perpetrator.
However, when Don Jazzy chimed in, the situation became heated. The music mogul responded to the tweet, requesting Oluwadolarz to reveal the identity of the person in question. “Mention the person’s name, or it will appear that you are lying,” Don Jazzy apparently wrote.
Don Jazzy’s comment irritated many admirers, who promptly rushed to social media to criticise him. Several others accused him of being defensive and trying to defend himself, despite the fact that no one had linked him to the incident.
