Biodun Okeowo: Judged for being a single mother

Actress Biodun Okeowo has shared a heartfelt and emotional story about her wedding day and the journey that led her there.

In a detailed Instagram post, Okeowo opened up about the bittersweet experience of her wedding day, revealing that her mother, who had always dreamed of witnessing her daughter’s wedding, was not there to celebrate it.

Early dreams and mother’s expectations

Okeowo explained how, from a young age, she had envisioned a beautiful and intimate wedding ceremony—a simple garden-style event with just her and her “Prince Charming.” Growing up, her mother, a devout Christian and prayer warrior, always hoped her only daughter would marry traditionally, with the bride price paid and all the formalities observed. Okeowo fondly recalled the countless conversations they had about how colorful and joyous her wedding day would be.

“But life took a different turn—it didn’t go as we had planned,” she said, reflecting on the unexpected paths life often takes.

The pain of her mother’s absence

The most profound pain for Okeowo on her wedding day was the absence of her mother. She shared how deeply she misses her, and no one, she believes, can ever fill the void left by her mother’s absence. “RIP, Mom! I miss you deeply, and no one can ever fill the void you left behind. The tears from missing you are ones I’m not sure will ever dry.”

Okeowo’s longing for her mother’s presence added a layer of sorrow to what should have been a joyful occasion. It was not just about the missed moments but the unfulfilled dreams of having her mother by her side.

Overcoming challenges as a single mother

Okeowo’s journey was not just shaped by her mother’s absence but also by the challenges she faced as a single mother. She admitted feeling judged and labeled, which made her feel as though her dreams had been shattered. “As a single mother, there were times I felt my dreams had been shattered. I was judged, labeled, and looked down upon.”

Despite these obstacles, Okeowo found solace in her faith. She testified that God had the power to rewrite her story, restoring hope and blessing her beyond what she could have imagined. “But God rewrote my story,” she affirmed. “My children are the greatest blessings in my life. God never makes mistakes. He does everything at the right time.”

God’s perfect timing and blessings

Okeowo’s testimony is one of hope and resilience. She credits God for blessing her with the man of her dreams, a loving family, and children she had prayed for. Her post is not only a reflection on her past struggles but also a celebration of God’s faithfulness and perfect timing.

“Today, I celebrate God for blessing me with the man of my dreams, the children I prayed for, and the family I longed for,” she wrote. “Rejoice with me, and if you desire a similar testimony, tap into it because I’ve gone through my share of heartbreaks and sheges, but God came through, giving me exactly what I prayed for.”

Okeowo’s story serves as a reminder that no matter how challenging life may be, there is always hope for renewal and blessings.

Light at the end of the tunnel

“No matter how dark the tunnel may seem, there is always light at the end,” Okeowo emphasized. Her journey has shown her that even in the face of trials, there is hope and joy waiting on the other side. She urges everyone who feels stuck or hopeless to trust in God and His timing.

Okeowo prays for those who are crying out to God for change, believing that He will intervene and provide lasting testimonies. “I pray for everyone crying out to God for a change,” she said. “He will rewrite your story, and your testimony shall be permanent! Amen. To God be the glory! Happy New Year!”

Okeowo’s story serves as a source of inspiration, offering hope to anyone facing difficulties or setbacks in their own lives.
