Actress Anita Joseph has responded to critics who believe she is “bottling” her spouse, Fisayo Olagunju aka MC Fish, due to their frequent public displays of affection.
Anita compared MC Fish to a giant fish, claiming he’s too massive to be contained.
She ascribed the harsh comments on jealousy over her easygoing marriage.
Anita emphasised the importance of prayer in maintaining a healthy marriage, advising fans to focus on their own relationships rather than criticising others.
“They said I put my Husband in a bottle. Person Wey him nickname na Fish @realmcfish Big Fish no go even fit stay inside Bottle e go break the bottle run Out.
“When they see your marriage is going well ,they say e she don put am inside bottle Aramashiogri. The enemies don’t sleep on your matter oh. You sef don’t stop Praying on their Matter Shallom. Am I talking to somebody Shallom Kele wu Uka wu’ru ILulu,” she wrote.
Anita Joseph recently pondered on her marriage to hype man Michael Fisayo, aka MC Fish, and concluded that the partnership had favourably moulded her personality.
Celebrating their fourth anniversary, Joseph underlined how marriage has taught her to be more protective and patient, emphasising the importance of the heart in a union, independent of extrinsic influences like family or tribe.
She said, “Marriage has influenced me in a very positive way. I have learnt to be more protective and patient.
“What matters the most is one’s heart. One’s parents or other family members won’t be in the marriage with you, so it is basically one and one’s spouse forever. So, if one chooses someone from a different tribe, it is okay. One’s happiness comes first.”
Despite the cultural differences between her Igbo upbringing and her husband’s Yoruba ethnicity, Joseph expressed her appreciation for her mother-in-law’s Yoruba lessons.
Addressing those who questioned the durability of her marriage, Joseph stated that she is pleased to have proven them wrong and attributed the success of their union to God’s grace.
“My mother-in-law speaks Yoruba to me and I say ‘eshe’ (thank you). I have learnt a bit, though it has not been easy.”
The curvaceous actress also stated that though many people did not give her marriage a chance of succeeding, she was happy to prove them wrong. She said, “As regards my post on Instagram on my wedding anniversary, I wrote that some people and even blogs said that my marriage won’t last, but I ‘sent’ it back to them and their sisters. God’s grace has kept my husband and I together.”
The Anambra State-born actress and her husband married secretly four years ago after playing hide-and-seek. Anita and her husband married on Valentine’s Day 2020, which is a day dedicated to celebrating love.
The couple’s family and friends observed the exchange of marital vows.
Anita and her husband, Real MC Fish, published wedding images on their social media accounts, along with heartfelt remarks to each other.
