Nigerian talent manager and philanthropist Paulo Okoye has raised concerns about the current state of Afrobeats, both locally and globally.

In a statement shared on his Instagram page, Okoye highlighted the challenges facing the genre, noting that the struggle has deeply impacted artists.

He pointed out that Afrobeats artists were performing much better three years ago compared to today, with only a handful now making substantial income.

The 57-year-old attributed this downturn to a sharp decline in the genre’s popularity, particularly in Nigeria, where the situation appears most critical.

He wrote: “Afrobeats is going through a lot lately!! Every Afrobeat artist was doing way better 3 years ago compared to today!! Only a few are making money at the moment, and that’s a fact!!
