The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro, has assured beneficiaries of the N-Power programme that outstanding concerns surrounding the scheme are being addressed and that pending payments will be made.
Dr Doro gave the assurance in a short video shared on his social media platforms while responding to growing complaints from beneficiaries over delays and structural issues affecting the social intervention programme. He said his ministry has been engaging closely with the National Social Investment Programmes Agency (NSIPA) to conduct a comprehensive review of the scheme.

“I am aware of the concerns surrounding your programme, and I hear all of you,” the minister said. “Since assuming office, I have been working with the National Social Investment Programmes Agency to review the programme, identify problems and fix the structural challenges affecting it.”
He acknowledged that failures within the system had caused frustration among beneficiaries but stressed that efforts were underway to resolve all legitimate grievances.
“I assure you that all genuine concerns are being addressed,” Dr Doro said. “What may look like failure today should not discourage beneficiaries, as corrective measures are already in progress.”
The minister further reassured participants that those affected by payment delays would receive their entitlements once the verification process is completed.
“All beneficiaries should be confident that the challenges will be resolved and that payments will be made,” he said.
According to him, the government is not only focused on settling current issues but is also working to reposition the N-Power programme for long-term sustainability. He said reforms are being introduced to ensure the scheme delivers meaningful impact while aligning with the broader economic vision of the administration.
“We are committed to reforming the programme to make it more sustainable, with a clear exit framework in line with the President’s Renewed Hope agenda,” Dr Doro stated.
The N-Power programme, launched as part of Nigeria’s social investment initiatives, was designed to provide temporary employment, skills development and income support for young Nigerians. However, the scheme has faced repeated criticism over payment delays, transparency concerns and questions about its long-term effectiveness.
Dr Doro’s comments are expected to offer some reassurance to beneficiaries, many of whom have called on the government to urgently address outstanding payments and improve the management of the programme.
The minister concluded by appealing for patience, expressing confidence that ongoing reforms would restore trust in the initiative and ensure it delivers on its original objectives.
