Skit maker and actor Cute Abiola has denied throwing shade at veteran filmmaker Kunle Afolayan over his recent comments about cinema box office earnings.
New Daily Prime reports that Afolayan, in a viral interview, criticised the stress of marketing cinema films and revealed he stepped back from cinema releases because huge box office figures don’t translate to much personal income for him.

His comments came around the time Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham celebrated major box office milestones, sparking reactions online.
Amid the debate, Cute Abiola posted on X: “Avoid anything that will make you become an old taker.”
Many Nigerians interpreted the post as a dig at Afolayan, drawing backlash.
Responding to the criticism, Cute Abiola denied any shade, describing Kunle Afolayan as his leader. He insisted the post was a personal motivational message and not directed at anyone in the industry.
