A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Friday granted Nollywood actress, Angela Okorie, bail in the sum of ₦5 million over allegations of cyberbullying fellow actress, Mercy Johnson-Okojie.
Justice Emeka Nwite, while ruling on Okorie’s bail application filed by her counsel, Ernest Nwoye, held that although the prosecution opposed the request, there was no sufficient evidence before the court to suggest that the defendant would abscond if granted bail.

“Therefore, I am minded to grant the bail in the interest of justice,” the judge ruled, noting that the grant of bail is at the discretion of the court and must be exercised judicially and judiciously.
The court admitted Okorie to bail with one surety in like sum, who must be a Level 13 civil servant. The surety is also required to depose to an affidavit of means and present their letter of appointment as well as evidence of their last promotion.
Justice Nwite further directed both Okorie and her surety to submit two passport photographs each to the court registrar. He also ordered that the residential address of the surety be verified by the registrar.
The matter was adjourned until March 23 for the commencement of the trial. Pending the perfection of her bail conditions, the court ordered that Okorie be remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre.
