The eldest daughter of late gospel singer Omije Ojumi has delivered an emotional tribute to her mother, describing her as a strong and virtuous woman who remained devoted to her children despite challenges in her marriage.
Speaking at a service of songs held in Ojumi’s honour on Wednesday, her daughter, Jomiloju, said her mother was a constant presence in their lives, even at moments when their father was absent.

According to her, the late singer was driven by a deep desire to raise disciplined and responsible children, determined that they would not repeat what she believed were her own mistakes in marriage.
“She was always there for us, even when our father wasn’t,” Jomiloju said.
“Her focus was to make sure we turned out responsible and did better than she did in her marital journey.”
She added that her mother placed a high value on education, often making sacrifices to ensure her children attended the best schools she could afford to secure their future.
In an emotional moment, Jomiloju also made a public vow to honour her mother’s wishes by taking responsibility for her younger brother and guiding him on the right path.
“I promised my mum that I will take care of my younger brother,” she said. “He will be the prayer warrior and responsible son she wanted him to be.”
