The All Progressives Congress (APC) has commenced a nationwide E-Membership Registration Exercise, urging both existing and prospective members to take part in what party leaders describe as a critical step toward strengthening internal democracy and citizen participation.
According to party sources, the ongoing registration drive is designed to formally document members, deepen grassroots engagement, and enhance participation in the party’s decision-making processes ahead of future political activities.
Key Benefits of APC Membership
Political analysts and party officials note that being a card-carrying member of the APC comes with several benefits. These include the opportunity to influence party policies through participation in discussions and consultations that shape the party’s programmes and governance agenda.
Membership also grants individuals the right to take part in internal leadership elections, candidate selection processes, and to be voted for, providing them with a direct role in determining who represents the party at various levels of government. Observers say this strengthens democratic participation and helps mobilise citizens beyond the ballot box

In addition, APC membership fosters a sense of community and belonging, connecting members with others who share similar political ideals. Through activism and mobilisation, members can volunteer, campaign, and engage in ward-level and local government party activities.
Party officials further explain that membership dues contribute to funding the party’s operations and election campaigns, while registered members often enjoy exclusive access to information, special meetings, and direct communication from party leadership.
Citing the ACE Electoral Knowledge Network, party stakeholders emphasise that a membership card signifies formal commitment to a political organisation, transforming individuals from passive observers into active participants in both internal party democracy and broader political processes.
Call for Participation in E-Registration
As part of the ongoing exercise, all APC members are encouraged to visit their respective wards within their local government areas to complete their registration. The party has outlined basic requirements for the process, including possession of a National Identity Number (NIN), a Voter Identification Number (VIN), and eligibility as a registered voter aged 18 years and above.
Party organisers acknowledged that some members may face technical challenges during registration. They disclosed plans to organise online awareness and support programmes to guide members through the process and ensure smooth, accurate, and stress-free registration.
With the exercise ongoing nationwide, APC leaders have called on supporters not to remain on the sidelines, stressing that widespread participation is essential to building a stronger party and promoting what they describe as the dividends of democracy in Nigeria.
