The AMVCA is MultiChoice’s flagship initiative aimed at recognising, celebrating, and rewarding excellence in African storytelling across film and television.
Over the years, the awards have grown into one of the continent’s most respected platforms for honouring creative talent.
Organisers noted that the 12th edition will once again highlight the growth, creativity, and global potential of Africa’s entertainment industry, while reinforcing the AMVCA’s reputation as the continent’s most prestigious awards platform.
Building on its legacy of celebrating both established and emerging talents, the upcoming edition introduces notable enhancements designed to strengthen its pan-African reach.
One of the key updates is the expansion of the Indigenous Language categories with the introduction of Best Indigenous Language – North Africa and Best Indigenous Language – Central Africa.
The 12th AMVCA will feature a total of 32 award categories, comprising 18 jury-decided awards and 11 audience-voted categories.
In addition, the ceremony will include special recognition honours, including two Lifetime Achievement Awards and one Trailblazer Award.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held in Lagos, Nigeria, in May 2026, bringing together filmmakers, actors, producers, and other stakeholders from across the African entertainment industry.
