The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has directed the party coordinators to ensure every member is captured in the ongoing historic electronic registration exercise.
Speaking on Tuesday during a high-stakes meeting with State Coordinators at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, Yilwatda emphasised that the digital drive is the strategic pillar for the party’s success in the 2027 general elections.
In a “frank and productive” engagement, he made it clear that the era of “box-ticking” is over.

He announced that he would monitor the progress of the registration in all 36 states and the FCT, warning that coordinators would be held directly responsible for any failures.
“This is not a routine party activity; it is a national responsibility,” Yilwatda declared. “I made it clear that I will personally monitor this exercise and that every coordinator will be held accountable for the success or failure of the registration in his or her state.”
Since assuming the chairmanship in July 2025, Yilwatda—a former Resident Electoral Commissioner and ICT expert—has moved to transform the APC into a data-driven organisation.
According to him, the e-registration exercise aimed to build a clean, verifiable database of the party’s estimated 40 million members, and strengthen internal democracy.
This, he said, by ensuring that every registered member had a digital voice in party primaries and congresses, and enhanced effective mobilisation to position the party for a dominant performance in the 2027 polls.
Addressing logistical concerns, he urged coordinators to push the exercise beyond state capitals and into the most remote wards and polling units.
He stressed that the move to digital must not become a barrier to those in rural areas or those with limited tech literacy.
“Technology must serve the people, not shut them out,” he noted, instructing that agents be deployed to communities to assist loyal members who might be excluded due to distance or “logistical challenges.”

The e-registration exercise is the first phase of a broader organisational overhaul. With the APC National Convention slated for March 2026, the digital register will serve as the foundation for the upcoming ward, local government, and state congresses.
Yilwatda expressed confidence in the coordinators’ commitment, asserting that a party that “knows its members” is a party that will “always be ready to win.”
