Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has reportedly evaded police arrest following an alleged assault on his fourth baby mama, actress Ashabi Simple, during a confrontation in Ogun State.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday, January 1, 2026, reportedly took place at the singer’s bar.
A viral video circulating online captured a heated exchange between the pair, with Ashabi insisting that Portable should recognise her as his wife and not merely refer to her as a baby mama.

In the footage, Ashabi was seen holding onto the singer’s clothing while expressing frustration over how he labels her.
Portable, however, maintained that he only has one wife, Bewaji, and described other women he shares children with as baby mamas. His response reportedly escalated the confrontation.
Following the altercation, Ashabi and her siblings reportedly filed a complaint with the police, accusing Portable of assault and intimidation.
In a subsequent video shared on Instagram, the actress alleged that the police were unable to arrest the singer as he had already fled, leaving officers to meet his pregnant wife, Bewaji, at home.
Ashabi further claimed that the disagreement began after she visited the bar at Portable’s request and that the situation quickly turned hostile. She alleged that she and her siblings were threatened during the incident.
The episode has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with opinions sharply divided. While some Nigerians condemned the alleged violence and called for accountability, others criticised Ashabi, accusing her of forcing herself into the singer’s life and questioning her self-worth.
As of the time of this report, Portable has not publicly responded to the allegations.
