The Delta State Police Command has arrested two suspected cultists in Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area, and recovered an AK-47 rifle fitted with a double magazine during a follow-up operation.
The suspects, identified as Justice Ikutu, 38, and Peter Okomeje, 55, were apprehended on 25th November 2025 at separate hotspots within Oghara by operatives of the CP-Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), led by ASP Julius Robinson.
Their arrest followed intensified surveillance prompted by credible intelligence linking them to an armed criminal syndicate operating in the area.

A subsequent search at the residence of one Peter Kome led to the discovery of the assault rifle and other incriminating items believed to be connected to ongoing investigations into cult-related and armed robbery activities.
The operation builds on earlier gains recorded on 24th November, when other confessed cultists were arrested and a pump-action gun recovered.
Commissioner of Police (CP), Olufemi Abaniwonda, commended the swift response and professionalism of the CP-SAT team.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to support ongoing police efforts to combat crime across the state.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, all suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.
