‎Osimhen awaits MRI results after Injury in world cup playoff final

‎Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen is set to undergo a comprehensive MRI scan to assess the severity of the injury he picked up during the World Cup Playoff final against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
‎
‎Osimhen was taken off at halftime in Nigeria’s defeat to DR Congo in the decisive 2026 World Cup African play-off match on Sunday.
‎
‎The forward, who has been in impressive form for Galatasaray this season, scoring nine goals in 12 appearances, including a recent Champions League hat-trick against Ajax,was flown back to Turkey on a private jet arranged by the club on Tuesday.
‎
‎Reports from Turkey indicate that Galatasaray is hopeful the problem is not major.
‎Turkish journalist Haluk Yürekli revealed that after speaking with Osimhen, club officials were encouraged by the player’s belief that the injury “doesn’t feel serious.”
‎
‎Upon arriving in Turkey, Osimhen also told reporters that the issue was “not serious.”
‎
‎Despite the optimism, the 25-year-old is expected to miss Galatasaray’s Süper Lig fixture against Gençlerbirliği on Saturday and remains doubtful for their Champions League clash with Union SG next Tuesday.

‎Another journalist, Ali Naci Küçük, estimated that Osimhen’s recovery could take around ten days, suggesting the club is hopeful of having him available for the crucial derby against Fenerbahçe on Monday, December 1.
‎
‎Küçük noted that if the injury turns out to be a mild hamstring bleed, Osimhen could recover within the 10-day window and possibly make the extended squad for the derby.
