The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) descended into fresh controversy, after its influential Board of Trustees (BoT) issued a firm and unequivocal rejection of a purported “Reconciliation Committee Report” circulating in the media.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Adolphus Wabara, the BoT distanced itself entirely from the document, stressing that its contents “do not represent the official position of the board.”

The board clarified that it had neither considered nor adopted the report, rendering it null and void as an official position of the PDP’s advisory body.
Reaffirming its stance, the BoT expressed unwavering support for the scheduled Elective National Convention set to hold in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, from 15 to 16 November.
The convention is expected to produce a new national leadership to steer the party’s affairs for the next four years.
The board noted that its position was guided by the recent Supreme Court judgment, which reaffirmed the supremacy of political parties in managing their internal affairs.
Moving to end speculation about the party’s next steps, the BoT outrightly rejected any proposal to set up a Caretaker Committee for the PDP.
“Such an idea cannot be contemplated, as the Board and, indeed, the PDP have irreversibly resolved to proceed with an Elective National Convention. This matter falls squarely within the internal affairs of the party, over which the courts have no jurisdiction,” the board said.

The BoT urged all party members to remain focused and dedicated to ensuring the success of the forthcoming convention, signalling that the leadership transition remains firmly on course despite the emergence of the controversial report.
