The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, of exploiting Nigeria’s security challenges for political gain, asserting that President Bola Tinubu is actively resolving the inherited crisis.
In a statement signed by Seye Oladejo, the state APC spokesman, the party claimed Mr Tinubu is confronting insecurity with “courage and strategy”.
Measures include strengthening military command and intelligence structures, deploying modern technology, re-energising regional and global collaborations, and tackling economic roots through bold reforms.
Oladejo described Obi and his supporters as an “online choir” rehearsing “2023 grievances” to fuel foreign commentary and sustain political relevance.
“Tinubu is fixing the insecurity Obi and allies fed with propaganda,” he stated.
The APC spokesman further alleged that Obi appears “content only when Nigeria is under pressure”, viewing national challenges as opportunities to “resurrect his political career”.
He contrasted this with “real leaders” who defend their country in difficult times, labelling the former Anambra’s governor approach as “sour politics born from electoral heartbreak” rather than patriotism.
Nigeria’s security issues, the statement emphasised, predate the current administration and were inherited. While acknowledging the gravity of the problems, the APC praised Tinubu’s multi-pronged response.
