Dr Bernard Doro has pledged to make a meaningful impact in the lives of Nigerians, the New Daily Prime earlier reported that Doro was confirmed by the Nigerian Senate on Thursday following his nomination by President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking during his first service at ECWA Goodnews Church in Maitama, Abuja, on Sunday, the pharmacist reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the poor and vulnerable receive the support they need.
“Our desire is to be able to implement policies that will uplift people from poverty. We cannot do that on our own. We can only do that with your support and with your prayers. I am sure we will be able to achieve a great result. So, I am not going to say much, but let’s see how things go”, he said.

Dr Doro urged the congregation to join him and other political office holders in prayer, asking the Lord for strength and guidance to make a meaningful difference, emphasising that their true desire was to serve.
He also expressed gratitude to the church, particularly the Women’s Fellowship, for their outstanding performance, noting that it was a blessing to worship with them.

“On behalf of my dear wife, Naomi, and my entourage here, I bring you greetings. It was just about ten days ago or so, and I was at work back in the United Kingdom. I got news that the President and Commander-in-Chief, Bola Tinubu, nominated me to serve as Minister of the Federal Republic.
“So I had to then come back to Nigeria, and by the grace of God, on Thursday, the 30th of October, we got the screened and confirmed as a Minister. And so, this is my first service as a confirmed Minister, and I choose to do it here.”
Background
This newspaper reported that Dr Doro is no stranger to empowering underprivileged people, having established himself as a passionate advocate for good governance, social equity, and accountable leadership through his “Bernard Doro Vision.”
Before his appointment, Dr Doro had consistently championed the principles of good governance, anchored on three key pillars, accountability, inclusion, and integrity.
In a Facebook post shared on 24 July, he reminded citizens that “true politics is about standing with the people,” even in the face of complex challenges.
He further stressed that effective governance must remain transparent, inclusive, and fair, particularly in addressing long-standing inequalities.
“Despite these challenges, prioritising citizens’ needs can build trust and credibility, foster inclusive decision-making, promote social justice and equality, and empower citizens,” Doro wrote.
“By understanding the needs and concerns of their constituents, politicians can create a more just and equitable society—ultimately leading to better governance and a stronger democracy.”
During an address to Nigerians in the diaspora on 30 October 2025, Dr Doro reaffirmed his commitment to open dialogue and participatory governance.
“Bring all your ideas,” he urged his audience. “I will listen, and I will take note. My doors are open to everyone—feel free to come over.”
He expressed gratitude for the enthusiasm that greeted his appointment and emphasised that true leadership begins with listening before taking action.

Dr Doro reminded citizens that meaningful transformation demands collective effort. He called for unity, tolerance, and shared responsibility, stressing that the nation’s progress depends as much on its people as it does on its leaders.
As Doro assumes his ministerial duties, public expectations remain high. Many view his inclusion in the federal cabinet as a sign of a shifting political culture—one that prioritises ideas, inclusivity, and transparency.
