The Nigerian Army has initiated a major security operation, deploying a full brigade and heavy equipment across parts of Kwara South and Kwara North to eliminate kidnappers terrorizing communities in the state.
The deployment, which has seen heavy equipment “roaring through communities,” is a renewed effort targeting thick forests in areas like Ifelodun, Edu, and Patigi, identified as hideouts from which criminals have launched attacks and abducted residents for ransom.
Troops are already moving through communities inward Oke Ode and Babanla in Ifelodun Local Government Area, with the operation extending to Edu and Patigi to comprehensively comb the affected areas.

The state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Wednesday commended President Bola Tinubu for his support in authorizing the crucial deployment.
The governor disclosed that he had met with the President over the issue at the weekend on the sideline of a visit to Jos.
In a statement welcoming the military intervention, AbdulRazaq also lauded the military high-command and allied security forces.
“We will not spare any resources in support of the military, DSS, police, and other security agencies as they work to strengthen security of lives and properties,” the governor stated.
He expressed optimism that this operation, which is part of the larger ‘Operation Fasan Yanma,’ will successfully eliminate all forms of threats in the affected areas of Kwara South and Kwara North.
“We are confident that Brigadier General A.A. Babatunde-led Army Brigade will succeed in this important task and clear the entire areas,” the governor added.
