Veteran Nollywood actor, Alhaji Babatunde Bamgbode, popularly known as Baba Fokoko, has dismissed claims made by some of his colleagues regarding unfulfilled promises from the 2023 election campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
New Daily Prime recalls that Nollywood stars, including Alapini, Lalude, Toyin Abraham, Olaiye Igwe, Seyi Law, Eniola Badmus, and Foluke Daramola, were among hundreds of entertainers who actively campaigned for Tinubu’s presidential victory.

In June 2025, actor Alapini publicly expressed regret over his involvement, lamenting that he had not been rewarded for his support despite his loyalty during the campaign.
Following his statement, Lalude accused MC Oluomo, the President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), of failing to fulfill alleged promises made to them during the campaign period.
However, in a recent interview on Oyinmomo TV, Baba Fokoko contradicted his colleagues’ accounts, clarifying that MC Oluomo never promised any financial or material reward to the actors.
“He didn’t promise to reward any of us,” Baba Fokoko said. “He didn’t promise me anything, but he had it in mind to treat us well. It’s been more than two years, and he never said he would give anyone anything.”
The actor explained that MC Oluomo only provided welfare packages during the campaign period, which were duly distributed among the participating entertainers.
“He brought foodstuffs for us to share during the campaign and instructed us to distribute the remaining ones among ourselves. We went home with those foodstuffs more than two times. But he never promised to compensate us after the campaign,” Baba Fokoko added.
The controversy highlights the recurring tension between politics and entertainment, where celebrity endorsements often blur the line between personal conviction and anticipated reward.
