The Delta Central Diabetes Sensitization and Testing Outreach extended its free medical services to residents of Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, marking another step in Senator Ede Dafinone’s ongoing effort to curb diabetes and promote preventive healthcare across Delta Central.
In a document shared to News Daily Prime on Monday, disclosed that the event was held on 4 October with the aim at delivering free testing, sensitization, and medical consultations across the eight LGAs of Delta Central.
Meanwhile the outreach formed part of a larger health intervention series sponsored by Senator Dafinone in partnership with the National Health Fellows.
Furthermore, it was designed to address the rising incidence of diabetes and related conditions such as hypertension and tuberculosis, the outreach also focuses on empowering residents with vital knowledge about prevention and healthy living.

The event commenced with a welcome address from the National Health Fellows, who reaffirmed their mission to nurture young Nigerians passionate about community health advancement.
Fellow Prudence Emudianughe, the Health Fellow for Ethiope West, officially flagged off the programme, expressing appreciation to Senator Dafinone for his consistent commitment to improving grassroots healthcare.
Representing the Senator, Mr. Nathan Ofomala delivered goodwill remarks, assuring the people of the Senator’s continued investment in initiatives that strengthen public health and accessibility.
Dr. Abeke Kingsley, Executive Secretary of the Local Government Health Authority, led an engaging session on diabetes awareness, highlighting its causes, risk factors, symptoms, and preventive measures. He urged participants to prioritise regular health checks, balanced diets, and active lifestyles.
Throughout the day, multiple services were rendered, including free diabetes and blood pressure testing, tuberculosis screening, general consultations, and the provision of free medications for diabetes and hypertension.
Attendance grew steadily, with about 120 residents benefiting from the outreach. The programme maintained an atmosphere of learning and collaboration, strengthened by the partnership between the National Health Fellows and the Ethiope West Health Authority.
Expressing gratitude to Senator Dafinone, community members commended the initiative for bringing essential healthcare closer to the people and underscored the importance of sustained sensitization and preventive health programmes at the grassroots level.
