A prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State, Mohammed Bello, has announced his resignation from the party, describing the move as his liberation “out of bondage.”
The former senatorial aspirant for Yobe Zone A formalised his exit in a letter addressed to the APC Ward Chairman in Gwange, Damaturu metropolis, stating that his resignation takes immediate effect.
In the letter, Bello explained that the decision followed deep reflection on his personal values and the party’s direction.
“I am writing to formally notify you of my decision to resign my membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC) immediately,” he wrote.
“This decision has not come lightly; it follows considerable reflection on my personal values and the direction of the party.
“After much deliberation, I have concluded that it is in my best interest and that of my community to step away from the party at this time.”
Bello’s departure adds to the growing list of defections from the APC, reflecting internal challenges as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
While he did not specify his next political move, speculation suggests he may align with an opposition party, such as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or the African Democratic Congress (ADC), both of which are gaining traction in northern Nigeria.
