The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recorded another breakthrough in its fight against illicit substances, arresting two drug kingpins in Lagos and destroying more than 24,000 kilogrammes of cannabis in Edo State.
The Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi disclosed that the operatives of the NDLEA’s Special Operations Unit (SOU) after weeks of surveillance on the criminal networks, the agency apprehended two drug kingpins m, Victor Nwosa, 64, and Felix Obiegbu, 49.
Nwosa, who posed as a textile merchant, was arrested at his residence on Femi Kila Street, Okota, on 17 September, where 4.33 kilogrammes of heroin and 448 grammes of cocaine were recovered.
Obiegbu, known publicly as a wine distributor, was picked up a week earlier at his Aguda, Surulere home, where 2.9 kilogrammes of methamphetamine were seized.

The clampdown extended to the North-East, where suspected drug suppliers to terrorists and bandits were intercepted.
In Borno, Baba Ibrahim, 26, was arrested at Njimtilo village on Saturday, 27 September, with 39,380 pills of tramadol and exol-5 concealed in the engine compartment of a Mercedes Benz jeep.
On the same day in Yobe, Halima Adamu was caught along the Damaturu–Maiduguri road with 1.4 kilogrammes of Colorado hidden in her travelling bag. A follow-up operation led to the arrest of Habiba Muhammad in Maiduguri.
In separate operations across the country, NDLEA operatives made multiple arrests, in Kano, two suspects, Aliyu Sani and Yahaya Tata, were found with 30,030 pills of tramadol.
Then in Bayelsa, three men were arrested at Swali jetty with 12kg of cannabis and 50 cartridges of ammunition. While in Ekiti, ex-convict Femi Owoeye, also known as Do Good, was caught with 32kg of skunk and tramadol.
At Kaduna, Adedamola Olayeni, 56, was stopped at the Abuja–Kaduna tollgate with 262.6kg of skunk, while another suspect was nabbed with 506 grammes of methamphetamine in Gwantu.
In Lagos-Abuja, Over 85,000 opioid pills and 2.1kg of Colorado were intercepted in separate busts.
In Edo State, where operatives destroyed 24,146kg of cannabis cultivated on more than nine hectares of forest land across Esan West and Igueben Local Government Areas (LGAs).
Additional seizures included 1,025kg of skunk hidden in charcoal sacks intercepted along Wareke–Auchi road, with two suspects arrested.
In commendation of the operatives for their successful operations,, NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Marwa (Rtd), reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to safeguarding the nation from illicit substances.
“Every gram of these dangerous drugs we seize and remove from our streets reinforces our determination to protect our youths, disrupt criminal networks, and strengthen national security,” he said.
