Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has explained the factors behind his side’s 2-1 Premier League victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Goals from Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro secured the win for the Red Devils, while Trevoh Chalobah scored a late consolation for Chelsea under interim boss Enzo Maresca.
Speaking to BBC Sport after the game, Amorim praised his team’s aggressive start, which he believes set the tone for the match. He also acknowledged that Chelsea’s goalkeeper Robert Sanchez receiving a red card significantly influenced the outcome.
“Every win, especially in this moment, is important, against a great opponent,” Amorim said.
“We started the game in the right way. Really aggressive. The red card helped us dominate the game, but we were already there.”

The victory lifts Manchester United to 10th place in the Premier League table.
Despite the positive result, Amorim admitted that his team can sometimes complicate their own play, especially after going 2-0 up by half-time.
“We scored two goals, and then we tried to complicate our game again. It’s always complicated with us. It should have been different this game,” he reflected.
He also highlighted the importance of the home crowd in driving the team forward. “Our crowd, our fans are easy to please. If you give everything, they will be there. That is something our players need to understand. To have the crowd with us, we just need to run, to fight and tackle.”
Manchester United will look to build on this momentum as the Premier League season continues.
