Nollywood actress and producer, Uche Ogbodo, has candidly shared her reasons for undergoing body enhancement surgery, stating that the decision was tied to her struggle with body image after childbirth.
In a heartfelt interview with Saturday Beats, the mother of three explained that becoming a parent significantly changed her physique, leaving her unhappy and self-conscious about her appearance.
Ogbodo, who has been known for her naturally curvy figure, revealed that the changes that came after her third pregnancy motivated her to take control of her body.
“I didn’t have an hourglass shape. Starting to have babies didn’t help matters for me. I didn’t like what I saw when I looked at myself after my third child. I felt I owed it to myself to be happy and confident,” Ogbodo said.
She described the cosmetic procedure as a deeply personal decision rather than one made to impress others, insisting that her mental and emotional health played a huge role.

“The surgery wasn’t for anyone else but for me, for my mental health to feel good, okay, and enough. I am enough competition for myself,” she added.
Ogbodo also explained why she chose to be open about her transformation, noting that she wanted to set an example for other women and to be honest with her fans.
“In this country, people, especially celebrities, are often not honest. You’re a role model, yet you lie to those who genuinely love you. Many undergo procedures, disappear, and then return with new bodies without admitting they worked on themselves. Why hide it when you can inspire other women with your story?” she asked.
Ogbodo further revealed that her husband was supportive of her decision from the start. According to her, his encouragement gave her the confidence to undergo the surgery and focus on her happiness.
“He understood what I was going through with my body and how it was affecting my confidence. His support made the process easier for me,” she said.
The actress urged other celebrities to normalise transparency about cosmetic enhancements rather than promote unrealistic expectations among their fans.
She emphasised that being open about such choices can inspire women to have honest conversations about their bodies and mental health.
Uche Ogbodo’s revelation comes amid a growing trend of Nigerian entertainers openly discussing cosmetic procedures, which were once considered taboo topics.
