Nigerian actress and reality TV star Bamike “Bambam” Olawunmi Adenibuyan has advised couples to hold off on physical intimacy until they are certain about marriage, saying that such restraint can help build a stronger, more lasting relationship.
Speaking on the Echo Room podcast, Bambam encouraged singles to prioritise emotional and spiritual compatibility over physical connection when dating.
“I would advise anybody dating, if you can keep sex out of the mix till you’re sure of getting married, just do it,” she said. “It helps you see the person for who they truly are without distractions, and it gives you a clear mind when making life-changing decisions like marriage.”
Bambam, who is married to fellow Big Brother Naija alumnus Tope “Teddy A” Adenibuyan, shared candid details about the challenges they faced early in their marriage. She revealed that they once questioned whether their relationship had the right foundation.

“I began to evolve as a woman, and he too was discovering himself. Our differences started to clash. There were many times we questioned why we were together. We felt like the foundation wasn’t right,” she disclosed.
Despite these struggles, Bambam said she leaned on her faith and trusted God’s promises for her marriage, which helped her push through the difficult times.
The actress emphasised that their shared spiritual journey played a crucial role in strengthening their union. She described her husband’s personal connection with God as a defining factor in the survival and growth of their marriage.
“My greatest joy through the journey has been him having a personal relationship with God. That has been the sweetener,” Bambam said.
She credited this shared faith as the glue that keeps them together, allowing them to overcome misunderstandings and grow as a couple.
Bambam, who is now a mother of two, also opened up about her evolution as an actress. She said she chooses to portray relationships in her roles without relying on kissing scenes, focusing instead on authentic emotional expression to convey intimacy on screen.
“I try to act in a way that feels real without necessarily kissing or going too far. My job is to make people believe in the story while still staying true to my personal boundaries,” she explained.
Her approach has earned her praise from fans who appreciate her ability to deliver powerful performances while maintaining her values.
Bambam’s message resonated with many viewers, particularly young couples navigating dating and marriage in a fast-paced society. She urged them to prioritize personal growth and spiritual grounding over fleeting emotions.
“Marriage is more than just romance or physical attraction. It’s about two people building something that lasts. If you can delay intimacy and focus on building that solid foundation, it will help you in the long run,” she advised.
Bambam and Teddy A’s marriage, which blossomed after their time together on Big Brother Naija: Double Wahala, has become one of the most admired relationships to come out of the reality show.
Their love story has inspired many fans, but Bambam’s candid revelations show that even admired couples face struggles behind the scenes.
By sharing her experience, Bambam hopes to encourage others to approach love and marriage with intentionality, patience, and faith.
