Verydarkman, who recently faced the House of Representatives, declined to testify about his charges and claimed that his lawyer will do it on his behalf. His denial derived from Bobrisky’s absence from the investigation.
However, Committee Members ordered Verydarkman to return and answer questions, embrace his assertions, or face detention by the parliament.
The Chairman emphasised that Verydarkman cannot dictate the proceedings, including Bobrisky’s appearance, because that choice rests with the Committee.
The chairman of the Committee said, “You are not expected to dictate to us whether Bobrisky comes here or not; it is left to us to decide. We can also compel him to come before us, and we can invoke our powers to arrest him.
“We can compel Bobrisky to appear before us and even arrest him if necessary,” the Chairman stated. “Your allegations have led to the invitation of top government officials, so it’s imperative you speak to these allegations.
“You are here already to testify, I will advise you go ahead, don’t let anyone deceive you. To the lawyer, please advise your client”
Verydarkman’s unwillingness to speak has raised worries, and the Committee has threatened to use its powers if he does not comply.
VeryDarkMan explained that the audio tape was received from someone to whom Bobrisky owed money and that he presented a portion of the recording to the committee.
The activist further claimed Bobrisky spent millions of Naira to acquire a preferred prison location.
Bobrisky has subsequently disputed the charges, and both the EFCC and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) have launched investigations into the VDM’s claims.
