Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has upheld resolutions by the State House of Assembly to suspend three public officials.
The governor’s office released a statement confirming the suspensions, which are effective immediately.

The suspended officials included Maxwell Ogiri, Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area; Grace Adagba, Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB); and Michael Uper, Executive Secretary of the Benue State Lottery Commission.
Each was handed a one-month suspension.
The suspension followed the State Assembly’s approval, granted in six-month intervals.
However, the suspension was not initially endorsed by the state governor, prompting the House to declare that it would no longer entertain correspondence from the executive arm of government.
In addition, the House declined to screen the commissioner-nominees earlier forwarded to it for consideration.
Alia emphasised his commitment to the rule of law, due process, and the separation of powers.
He praised the House of Assembly for exercising its constitutional duties and assured the people of Benue that his administration remains dedicated to transparency and accountability.
The governor has urged the affected institutions to ensure that service delivery continues without interruption during the suspension period.
