Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians under Lagos Health District (LHD) IV have undergone a comprehensive training exercise designed to sharpen their skills in pharmacovigilance, medication management, documentation, and patient counselling.
According to a post shared via their X page on Monday noted that the programme, organised by the Directorate of Pharmaceutical Services, took place at the Oluremi Tinubu Hall, Surulere Local Government (LGA) Secretariat.
The training, according to the organisers, was aimed at boosting drug safety measures, strengthening professional competence, and improving patient outcomes across primary healthcare centres within the district.
The Director of Pharmaceutical Services at the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board, Pharm. Shakirat Adeosun, who facilitated the session on medication management, urged practitioners to demonstrate empathy in their interactions with clients, stressing that patient care goes beyond prescriptions.

Dr. Halimat Adedeji, Assistant Director of Pharmaceutical Services, Mushin LGA, led discussions on pharmacovigilance, particularly drug safety and adverse drug reaction (ADR) reporting, while Pharm. Nafisat Akindele, Director of Pharmaceutical Services, Health District I, highlighted the importance of effective communication, lifestyle modification, and patient-centred counselling.
Participants expressed a renewed commitment to raising the standard of pharmaceutical practice, pledging to apply the knowledge gained in their daily operations.
Pharmacy practice initiative commendable
On behalf of the Directorate, Pharm. Monilola Adeniji, Director of Pharmaceutical Services, Health District IV, conveyed appreciation to the Permanent Secretary, Dr Abimbola Bowale, for his support in driving the initiative.
She described the exercise as a significant stride towards advancing health standards and fostering the responsible use of medicines across Lagos State.
