Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has declared that he would defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election if given the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ticket.
Speaking during an X Spaces conversation on Saturday, the former Rivers State governor said he knows Tinubu’s strengths and weaknesses and would leverage them to secure victory.

“I have never contested an election against Tinubu. I know him very well. I know his strengths. I know his weaknesses. If I am given the ADC ticket, I will defeat him for sure,” Amaechi said.
Rigging
He also denied ever participating in election rigging, stating that he consistently turned down invitations to serve on the All Progressives Congress (APC) election planning committees.
Amaechi further challenged any politician, living or dead, to publicly claim that he had ever been involved in rigging.
“In fact, I refused to participate in all the appointments the APC offered me to join election planning committees. I did not take part in any of them. Why? Because I know what they discuss. I listen to them. I hear them. If I secure the ticket, I will reveal those things.”
According to him, governors are often involved in electoral malpractice.

“They will involve governors. They will approach government agencies to obtain money, but the rest, I will not say until I win the primaries.
“I will never participate in any form of rigging, and I will not do it. What I promise to do from now on is to stop rigging. I challenge any Nigerian to produce evidence that I took part in election rigging, and I will apologise for it,” he said.
