Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has approved the allocation of an additional N20 billion in the state’s supplementary budget to further upgrade school infrastructure.
He said the new investment is intended to build on the significant improvements the administration has made in public schools since 2020.
The governor, in a statement by the Commissioner of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Lawal Olohungbebe, said this followed his administration’s renewed partnership with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).

The governor said, “The process has started already. The designs are being made, and we will get down to this as soon as the supplementary budget is approved.”
He noted that this is not an isolated effort but a continuation of the administration’s long-term commitment to education.
AbdulRazaq highlighted that since 2019, his government has renovated or built over 1,254 classrooms, along with several other specialised projects.
He also pointed out that his administration is the only one to have implemented all SUBEB-UBEC school intervention projects since 2014.

The new funding will be used to improve school facilities across the state, including laboratories and sanitation infrastructure, and will complement ongoing projects by SUBEB.
While acknowledging that some gaps still exist, he explained that this new intervention is designed to further close those gaps and provide a better learning environment for students.
