Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has expressed profound joy and gratitude following the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s sweeping victory in the local government elections held across the state on Saturday, July 12.
Mr Sanwo-Olu, in a statement yesterday, congratulated the APC, its leadership, stakeholders, and members on their overwhelming electoral success.
He described the outcome as a clear demonstration of the trust Lagosians place in the party’s vision for inclusive grassroots development.

“This victory belongs to the people of Lagos,” Sanwo-Olu affirmed, highlighting that the results reflect public confidence in the agenda of continuity, progress, and people-centric governance.
He extended congratulations to all victorious APC candidates, party members, and supporters across the 57 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) for their commitment and contributions.
Addressing the newly elected Chairmen and Councillors, the governor offered warm congratulations while delivering a crucial reminder: “This victory is not an end, but a means to an end—that end being selfless, responsive, and accountable service to the people.”
He underscored their responsibility to deliver good governance, uplift communities, and promote the welfare of every resident, irrespective of political affiliation.
Sanwo-Olu urged the victors to embrace humility, inclusiveness, and sportsmanship, extending goodwill across all divides.
He emphasised that leadership is a sacred trust, obligating them to serve their entire communities with equity, transparency, and compassion.
The governor also commended party members who participated in the primaries but were not successful, saluting their courage and dedication to the democratic process.
He encouraged them to remain steadfast and collaborate with the newly elected officials, stressing that “within the APC, we must always prioritise unity above personal ambition” to sustain the party’s legacy of service and success.
Calling for an end to internal divisions, Sanwo-Olu urged all APC members to reconcile and support their elected representatives in fulfilling the mandate received from the populace.
“We are stronger together, and the task of building a Greater Lagos demands our collective effort, wisdom, and collaboration,” he stated.
Sanwo-Olu lauded the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for conducting a peaceful and credible election, and thanked security agencies for maintaining law and order throughout the electoral exercise.
