Armed security personnel from the Nigeria Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have taken over the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abuja.
This is as a result of moves by the different groups in the party to meet today at the same venue.
The groups are led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike and the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.

The dispute centres on the legitimacy of recent decisions taken by the Acting National Chairman, with the PDP’s Board of Trustees BoT, over who to convene the meetings of the party’s leaders.
Access to the Secretariat has been heavily restricted, as security operatives have mounted barricades using traffic cones and patrol vehicles, while armed officers monitor the premises in anticipation of protests or confrontation between opposing factions.
