The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, has reaffirmed his commitment to lead the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun and return the party to power in the 2026 governorship election.
Speaking through Mr Richard Tinubu, former Director-General of the State Bureau of Social Services, at an event organised by the APC-affiliated Iron Ladies Group in Osogbo, Oyetola called for unity within the party ahead of the crucial poll scheduled for 8 August 2026.
“I will provide leadership for APC and work hard to return the party to power in 2026,” he said.
The incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is widely expected to seek re-election.
Oyetola also urged party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation and to support President Bola Tinubu’s economic reform efforts.
Earlier, the group’s state coordinator, Adesola Ayangbile, said Iron Ladies was founded to empower women in politics and promote social welfare.
She announced the group’s endorsement of Mr Bola Oyebamiji, Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, as their preferred aspirant for the APC ticket in 2026.
Receiving an award on Oyebamiji’s behalf, Dr Shekinat Oyebamiji expressed gratitude for the group’s support and assured them of her husband’s commitment to their expectations if elected.
