The Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has assured Nigerians that the President Bola Tinubu administration will achieve significant development in 2025, declaring that the era of excuses for non-performance is over.
Speaking on Monday, January 27, night after receiving the ThisDay Award for Minister of the Year, Wike emphasised the government’s commitment to infrastructure and development, stating, “This year, 2025, we will see more developments and more infrastructure, that is what is basic for us. We have no time for excuses; the time for excuses has gone.”
Wike thanked President Bola Tinubu for giving him the opportunity to contribute to the country’s growth.
The ThisDay awards recognised several outstanding achievers across different sectors, with Zenith Bank Plc winning the Bank of the Year award and Access Bank being named the Global Bank of the Year.
Other notable winners included Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals as Company of the Year, MTN as Brand of the Year, and Shell Nigeria Plc as Investor of the Year.
Additionally, Senator Adams Oshiomhole and Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan were awarded Senators of the Year.
The event also honoured the Publisher of The Guardian Newspaper, Lady Maiden Ibru, and the Chairman of Fidelity Bank PLC, Mustapha Chike-Obi, with the Lifetime Achievers Award.
Four governors were jointly recognised as Governors of the Year: Uba Sani (Kaduna), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), and Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom).
Governor Oborevwori, speaking after receiving his award, noted that the recognition would motivate him to intensify efforts towards improving the lives of Deltans, with a focus on infrastructure, capacity building, and economic growth.
