A man, who not only killed his mother with a stick but also dumped her corpse in a well, has been arrested by operatives of the Cross River State Police Command in Obudu Local Government Area of the state.
Mathias Amunde, who committed matricide, in an interrogation video shared on Instagram by user @isaacfayoseoriginal, confessed to the crime, revealing that he and an accomplice struck his mother with a stick, dragged her body outside, and threw it into a well.
He said in Pidgin (now translated), “I and Walcot killed her. We killed her with a stick. Walcot has gone to his house. After we killed her, Walcot dragged her out of the house and we jointly dragged her to the well.
“After we got to the well, I opened it and we jointly carried her body and threw it into the well.”
Also, confirming the incident on Monday, the state Police Public Relations Office, Irene Ugbo, noted that the case would be referred to the command’s headquarters for further investigation.
“Yes, he has been arrested. He will be transferred to the police headquarters for further investigation tomorrow (Tuesday),” Ugbo said.
