In a significant move to enhance efficiency and ensure nationwide accessibility, Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the division of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), located in Zaria, Kaduna State, into six regional campuses across the country’s geopolitical zones.
This decision, aimed at expanding the college’s reach and improving operational effectiveness, was revealed by the Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account.
The campuses will be strategically distributed across the country to reflect Nigeria’s geopolitical zones. They will be located in Akure (Southwest), Osubi (South-South), Ebonyi (Southeast), Ilorin (North Central), Yola (Northeast), and Zaria (Northwest).
This restructuring of NCAT reflects Tinubu’s commitment to fostering inclusive development and bridging regional gaps in aviation training. By decentralizing the aviation college, the initiative seeks to provide more opportunities for aspiring aviation professionals across the country and strengthen Nigeria’s aviation sector.
The Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, established in 1964, has long been a cornerstone of aviation training in the country. The expansion into six campuses is expected to bolster its reputation as a leading institution in the aviation industry, promoting greater accessibility and operational efficiency across Nigeria.
This strategic move underscores Tinubu’s broader vision for equitable development and the modernization of critical national institutions. It aligns with his administration’s emphasis on innovation, regional inclusivity, and enhanced service delivery in key sectors.
As the campuses are established, stakeholders in the aviation industry eagerly anticipate the broader impact this initiative will have on the training, development, and competitiveness of aviation professionals in Nigeria.
