Actress Ronke Odusanya has bravely opened up about the trials and tribulations that characterized her marriage to Saheed Olarenwaju, popularly known as Jago.
In a heartfelt interview with her colleague Bimpe Akintunde, Ronke shed light on the painful circumstances that ultimately led to the dissolution of their union.
According to Ronke, the onset of their marital woes can be traced back to a friend’s malicious rumours that severely distorted the reality of her life.
This purported friend allegedly made scurrilous claims to Saheed, suggesting that Ronke was being unfaithful and had left their home to spend the night with a senator, taking their daughter along.
These damaging lies fueled distrust between the couple and contributed significantly to the breakdown of their relationship.
Reflecting on the tumultuous phase of her life, Ronke recounted the emotional and financial hardships she faced after leaving the marriage.
She shared how she found herself in a precarious situation, left with only a mere N10,000 in her bank account and ultimately forced to seek refuge with her brother.

“When everything spiralled out of control, my partner eventually acknowledged that he shouldn’t have listened to the hurtful words that influenced his decision-making at that time,” she reflected.
The actress shared a particularly shocking incident that occurred during their relationship, emphasizing the impact that deceitful rumours can have on personal bonds.
“A friend of mine told him that I intended to leave him and engage in prostitution. She claimed that when I left that night, I went to sleep in a senator’s residence with our daughter, Fife. When he confronted me with these allegations, I was left speechless,” Ronke recalled.
In her quest for truth and clarity, she took proactive steps to defend herself against the unfounded allegations.
Ronke mentioned documenting evidence to counter the lies: “By God’s grace, I managed to capture proof; I recorded the time and location on my phone during our stay. I showed him a picture right away.”
However, the emotional toll was staggering. Without a steady income or financial stability, Ronke described how her world crumbled around her.
“At that point, I didn’t have more than N10,000 in my account, yet I resolved that this was the end. I lost all of my jewellery, which left me devastated. I fainted from the shock and was engulfed in thoughts about how to begin rebuilding my life. I shed so many tears that day, feeling utterly lost without the means to secure a place to stay.”
The pressures of their relationship extended beyond personal disputes; the couple found themselves embroiled in a highly publicized paternity dispute concerning their daughter.
In 2021, Saheed requested a DNA test to ascertain the parentage of their child, further complicating their already strained relationship.
However, he later issued a public apology in a video released in 2022, acknowledging that their daughter indeed belonged to him.
