Five persons allegedly involved in the killing of a 46-year-old University of Ilorin graduate, Lanre Adebayo have been arrested.
The Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Kwara State Police Command, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi confirmed the arrest of the all-male suspects.
The deceased, a Political Science graduate was tortured to death on Monday, October 21, 2024.
According to reports, the arrested persons included a community leader, two local vigilant security guards, and two others.
The incident reportedly occurred in the Ita-Elepa area of Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state, where Adebayo was said to have got involved in a heated argument with the local vigilant security guards on his way home, which later escalated into violence.
The Police PRO said the command had commenced an investigation on the development.
She said, “The case was reported to the command headquarters on Wednesday evening, and the suspects, all males, have been brought in for further interrogation. Investigation is ongoing, and we will brief the press once it is concluded.”
