The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out fresh air strikes on terrorist positions in the Sambisa Forest, aimed at killing several fighters and destroying key structures used by the group.
The operation took place in the Yuwe axis of the forest in the North-East, following intelligence reports on the presence of terrorists in the area.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Director of Public Relations and Information at the Nigerian Air Force, Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the strikes were based on credible intelligence supported by surveillance operations.
The Air Force said in the statement, “The operation followed credible intelligence corroborated by Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, which confirmed the presence of active terrorist elements within fortified structures and bunkers.”
According to the Air Force, its aircraft engaged the targets with precision weapons, destroying the structures and neutralising several fighters.

The statement read, “NAF air assets engaged the targets with precision munitions, destroying the structures, neutralising multiple terrorists, and eliminating key logistics facilities.”
Ejodame added that ongoing air operations have continued to weaken terrorist networks in the region, forcing them into disorganised and desperate actions.
The operation was carried out under the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, which coordinates military efforts against insurgents in the North-East.
Reacting to the development, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, commended the troops for the success of the mission.
He said, “The Nigerian Air Force will sustain relentless, intelligence-driven air operations until terrorist elements are completely neutralised.”
The Air Force also assured that its operations are conducted in line with rules of engagement, with efforts to avoid civilian casualties.
The latest strike comes months after a similar operation in Borno State, where more than 40 terrorists were reportedly killed in coordinated air attacks.
Military authorities say the sustained operations are beginning to reduce the strength of terrorist groups and restore calm in affected communities.
