Russia has praised United States President, Donald Trump, after his Friday meeting with Ukraine President, Volodymyr Zelensky in Washington.

Russia’s foreign ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova after the parley noted that Trump showed “restraint” by not hitting Zelensky during their shouting match in the White House.

NEW DAILY PRIME had earlier reported that President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky openly argued in the White House on Friday, February 28, as they clashed on the need for compromising with what the Ukrainian president called Russia’s “killer” leader.

Trump berated Zelensky as they sat in the Oval Office, telling him to be more “thankful” and saying, “You’re in no position to dictate what we’re going to feel.”

And he told the Ukrainian president that he either “make a deal” with Russia “or we’re out.”

Speaking on the clash between the two leaders, Zakharova wrote on Telegram on Saturday, “I think Zelensky’s biggest lie of all his lies was his assertion in the White House that the Kyiv regime in 2022 was alone, without support.”

She added, “How Trump and Vance held back from hitting that scumbag is a miracle of restraint,” she said.

Also on the visit, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, who is now deputy head of Russia’s Security Council, described Zelensky as “insolent pig” who had received “a proper slapdown in the Oval Office.”

Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, called the heated confrontation between Trump and Zelensky “historic.”

Dmitriev was one of Moscow’s negotiators in the Russian-American talks held on February 18 in Saudi Arabia — the first since Russia began its Ukraine offensive in 2022.

Zelenskyy met Trump in Washington on Friday to discuss issues surrounding the peace deal that would bring the war between Ukraine and Russia to an end.
