Pope Francis sent a heartfelt message to incoming U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday, offering his cordial greetings and extending prayers for wisdom, strength, and protection as Trump assumes office.
In his message, the Pope expressed his hope for a future where ‘there is no room for hatred, discrimination or exclusion’ under Trump’s leadership.
“On the occasion of your inauguration as the forty-seventh President of the United States of America, I offer cordial greetings and the assurance of my prayers that Almighty God will grant you wisdom, strength, and protection in the exercise of your high duties,” he wrote.
The Pope emphasised the importance of striving for a just society, hoping that under Trump’s leadership, the American people will thrive and work towards creating an inclusive society where all are treated with dignity and respect.
He also called on the incoming president to address pressing global issues, particularly the ongoing challenges of war and conflict.
