Flights to the airport near the inauguration ceremonies are experiencing delays for security reasons, according to a Federal Aviation Administration bulletin.
Passengers on flights heading to Reagan National Airport in Arlington, Virginia, just outside Washington, DC, reported to CNN that Transportation Security Administration agents are conducting additional ID checks and screenings at the gates.
The FAA warned that “inauguration day activities” could “significantly impact operations” at Reagan National Airport.
As of 11:15 a.m. ET, flights to DCA were facing ground delays, with the FAA indicating that a ground stop — halting all flights — might occur later in the day.

FlightAware’s most recent data revealed that 30 per cent of flights heading to DCA on Thursday were delayed, while 20 per cent of all departures from the airport faced delays.
