A 23-year-old British woman was fatally shot by her father at his home in Texas following a heated argument about Donald Trump, an inquest has heard.
Lucy Harrison, a fashion buyer from Warrington, Cheshire, was visiting her father, Kris Harrison, and his family in Prosper, near Dallas, when she was shot in the chest on 10 January 2025. She had travelled to the US with her boyfriend, Sam Littler, for a holiday stay. Mr Harrison had moved to Texas when Lucy was a child.
Giving evidence at Cheshire Coroner’s Court on Tuesday, Mr Littler described how Ms Harrison frequently became upset when her father discussed his gun ownership. He noted that Mr Harrison had previously attended rehab for alcohol addiction.
On the morning of 10 January, the day the couple were due to fly back to the UK, Ms Harrison and her father became involved in a “big” argument about Donald Trump, who was preparing for his inauguration as US president. Mr Littler said: “Kris and Lucy ended up having quite a big argument, which led to Lucy running upstairs and being upset.”

Later that day, roughly half an hour before they were set to leave for the airport, Ms Harrison was in the kitchen when her father took her by the hand and led her into his ground-floor bedroom. Within about 15 seconds, Mr Littler heard a loud bang, followed by Mr Harrison screaming for his wife, Heather.
Mr Littler ran into the room and found Ms Harrison lying on the floor near the bathroom entrance, with her father “screaming, just sort of nonsense.”
Kris Harrison did not attend the inquest to give evidence.
US authorities investigated the death as possible manslaughter, but in 2025 the local district attorney’s office in Collin County confirmed that a grand jury had voted a “no-bill,” meaning no criminal charges would be brought against Mr Harrison.
The inquest continues, with a full hearing to determine the circumstances of Ms Harrison’s death.
