Werder Bremen have confirmed the signing of Nigerian striker Victor Boniface on a season-long loan from Bayer Leverkusen.
The deal was finalised after the 24-year-old successfully completed his medicals and all contractual agreements were sealed, as earlier reported.
Bremen, who play at the Weser-Stadion, finished eighth in the 2024/25 Bundesliga season, continuing their steady rise in form and maintaining competitiveness in the league.

Werder’s sporting director, Peter Niemeyer, welcomed the acquisition, saying: “We are pleased that we were able to secure Victor’s services. He has delivered outstanding performances in the Bundesliga and has proven his qualities. We are convinced he can continue in that vein with us.”
Boniface’s transfer had initially looked uncertain after he underwent medical examinations at La Madonnina Clinic and Galeazzi Hospital in Milan.
At the time, a loan move to Serie A valued at €4–5 million, with a €30 million option to buy, had been under consideration.
Speaking after sealing his switch to Bremen, Boniface outlined his ambitions: “The discussions with those in charge convinced me to make this move. I want to contribute with my performances and help us achieve our common goals this season. I’m looking forward to joining my new teammates and my time at Werder Bremen.”
Boniface arrives with an impressive record, having scored 32 goals and provided 12 assists in 61 appearances across all competitions for Leverkusen.
During his spell with the German club, he lifted both the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal titles.
Before moving to Germany, the striker rose to prominence at Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise between 2022 and 2023, netting 22 goals and delivering 12 assists in 52 matches.

His tally included six Europa League goals that helped Union SG reach the quarter-finals, while he also shone domestically with nine goals and eight assists.
His explosive form in Belgium established him as one of the league’s most prolific strikers and paved the way for his transfer to Bayer Leverkusen in 2023.
