Manchester United are reportedly prepared to sanction the departure of goalkeeper André Onana to Saudi Arabia, with the Pro League’s transfer window still open. The 29-year-old Cameroon international, who joined United from Inter Milan in 2023, could become the latest Premier League player to be lured by lucrative Middle Eastern offers.
According to Teamtalk, United are willing to let Onana leave if the right offer arrives. The club’s stance reflects both financial pragmatism and the growing pull of Saudi clubs who continue to invest heavily in international stars.
Casemiro stays put
One United player who will not be heading east, however, is Casemiro. The 33-year-old Brazilian midfielder rejected a move to Al-Nassr this summer, believing that staying in Europe will help his prospects of featuring for Brazil at the 2026 World Cup. Goal reports that Casemiro prioritised competitive football in a top league over the riches of Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia targets Chelsea trio
Chelsea’s rebuild under manager Enzo Maresca could also see outgoings. Reports from Spain’s Sport suggest that Raheem Sterling, 30, defender Axel Disasi, 27, and 21-year-old midfielder Andrey Santos are all on the radar of Saudi clubs before the transfer deadline closes. Each could follow a growing list of Premier League players tempted by the Pro League’s wealth.
Postecoglou in managerial demand
Elsewhere, former Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has emerged as a candidate for jobs in both Germany and Turkey. Following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag at Bayer Leverkusen, Sky Sports Germany says the Australian is on a shortlist of potential replacements.
Meanwhile, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reports that Turkish giants Fenerbahce, who parted ways with José Mourinho last week, could also turn to the 60-year-old. Postecoglou memorably led Spurs to Europa League success last season but was sacked despite the triumph.
Tottenham eye City’s Aké
Tottenham Hotspur may revisit their interest in Manchester City defender Nathan Aké. The Netherlands international, 30, is admired by Spurs, and CaughtOffside reports that discussions could re-open in January if City are open to negotiating.
Antony reveals Bayern talks
Manchester United winger Antony, who completed a summer move to Real Betis after a loan spell there, admitted in an interview with El Partidazo (via the Mirror) that he spoke to Bayern Munich before finalising the deal. The 25-year-old Brazilian’s United career failed to take off following his £86 million move from Ajax in 2022.
Arsenal’s Martinelli priced out of move
The Daily Mail claims Arsenal were open to selling Gabriel Martinelli earlier this summer, but their £60 million valuation put off interested clubs, who valued him closer to £40 million. The 24-year-old Brazilian winger remains at the Emirates, though speculation over his long-term future persists.
Juventus miss out on Kolo Muani
Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport says Juventus pursued a deal for Randal Kolo Muani over several months, but Tottenham beat them to the French forward’s signature from Paris Saint-Germain.
United’s midfield dilemma
Back at Old Trafford, Sky Sports reports that while Manchester United remain interested in adding a midfielder, new football director Jason Wilcox does not view it as a top priority. His focus is on balancing the squad rather than making reactionary signings.
Forest could cash in
Nottingham Forest’s busy summer saw 13 new arrivals, but the club now looks to offload players to raise funds. Talksport reports that Portuguese forward Jota Silva, 26, remains a target for clubs in Saudi Arabia and Turkey after a deadline-day move to Sporting collapsed.
CaughtOffside also claims both Arsenal and Barcelona are tracking Forest’s Brazilian defender Murillo, 23, who has impressed since his arrival in England.
O’Neil bides his time
Former Wolves boss Gary O’Neil, who left Molineux in the summer, is not rushing into his next role. The Telegraph reports he has spoken to “fantastic clubs” but wants the right project before returning to management.
